Getting ready for Autumn

After summer, I usually get so excited about Fall.  I love the changing colors, apple cider, pumpkin picking, Halloween decorating (love it!), woodstove fires and those cool, crisp days (without rain, please...)

It is definitely a tradition to go pumpkin picking at a local farm.

Millie also had her annual Walk-a-thon at her school.  Every year the money they raise helps pay for programs and technology in her building. Lucky us, it was a surprisingly warm, pleasant day and the kids were exhausted after running and walking so many laps.

Millie did 15 laps in about 1 1/2 hours.

At the Harvest Festival in North Bend to play some games, find some treats and walk thru the scary Haunted House.....and we even got to meet our neighborhood friends doing exactly the same thing.   Here's Millie getting ready to play some "Pin the Nose on the Witch."

Our life in pictures from April to early September.

So I discovered that we had tons of pictures on our small digital camera.  They were from all the way back in April.  So I thought it would be fun to post my favorites from the last 5 months.  Here is our garden in early April.  I can't believe how green the grass was.  Once July hit, we had almost no rain at all.  My garden did great this year!

August in Washington

Millie and Mike with our chicken Whitey.  We are so happy he started laying eggs in August.  It is the best thing to walk out to the chicken coop and find a fresh egg.  He is such a good layer, that he lays an egg almost everyday with just a day off here and there.

We went camping in mid-August to escape the heat of summer (I love saying that!)  Here we are at Deception Pass State Park near Whidby Island.  We spent 2 nights in this beautiful part of Washington.

We enjoyed the sights, the beaches, miniature golf, delicious food and ice-cream!  And we even got to visit and play with our neighbors and their children who were camping at the same park!
